  • Impact of Research: This sub-criterion assesses the tangible impact of the research on its intended audience, industry, or community. It considers factors such as the significance of the findings, relevance to current issues, and potential implications for policy, practice, or further research.
  • Contribution to the Field: This sub-criterion examines the extent to which the research contributes to advancing knowledge, theory, or practice within its respective field or discipline. Publication Excellence
  •  Prestige of Journals: This sub-criterion evaluates the quality and reputation of the journals in which the research findings are published. It considers factors such as journal impact factor, ranking, peer-review process, and editorial board credibility.
  • Citations and H-Index: This sub-criterion measures the impact and influence of the research through citation metrics such as the number of citations, H-index, and citation indices. It assesses the extent to which the research findings are cited by other scholars, indicating its visibility and significance within the academic community.
  • Peer Review Recognition: This sub-criterion assesses the level of recognition and validation received through peer review processes. It considers whether the research undergoes rigorous peer review and receives positive feedback from experts in the field, enhancing its credibility and trustworthiness.
Innovation and Methodological Rigor
  • Use of Innovative Methods: This sub-criterion evaluates the creativity and originality of the research methods employed in the study. It assesses whether the research utilizes innovative approaches, techniques, or technologies to address research questions or challenges.
  • Rigorous Methodology: This sub-criterion examines the robustness and reliability of the research methodology employed. It assesses whether the research design, data collection methods, analysis techniques, and interpretation of results adhere to rigorous scientific standards and best practices, ensuring the validity and credibility of the findings.
Dissemination and Outreach
  •  Public Engagement: This sub-criterion evaluates the extent to which the research engages with and communicates findings to the general public or specific stakeholder groups. It assesses efforts to disseminate research findings through public lectures, media interviews, outreach events, or other forms of engagement.
  • Knowledge Transfer Activities: This sub-criterion assesses the effectiveness of knowledge transfer activities aimed at translating research findings into practical applications, policies, or interventions. It evaluates initiatives such as workshops, training programs, collaborations with industry partners, or policy briefs aimed at maximizing the societal impact and uptake of research outcomes.

Research excellence

The research entered may be a single project or a program of research.

External partners should not be included as nominees; however, the nomination must include a letter of support from the external partner describing the outcomes and benefits of the partnership. This must not exceed two pages.

Collaboration
  • Demonstrate the strength of the partnership/collaboration and evidence of teamwork.
  • Provide evidence of leadership within the collaboration.
  •  Describe how the research outcomes were only possible because of the partnership/collaboration.
Research significance and impact
  • Demonstrate evidence of the partnership/collaboration, and the benefits and impact that it brings to the University.
  • Provide evidence of learning experiences being shared for use in future partnerships/collaborations.
  • Provide evidence of output/outcomes from the partnership/collaboration including publications, research quality metrics and impact on society/industry e.g., citations, external research funding (including industry scholarships), industry scholarships and supervision of research degree candidates, which resulted from this partnership/collaboration.
