Jawatankuasa Etika Penyelidikan UUM

(JKEP UUM)

  

 

JKEP consists of eight (8) permanent members and two (2) alternate members selected from each Study Center. While RIMC acts as the Secretariat of JKEP UUM. 

The main role of this committee is to monitor research from the point of view of research ethics involving the use of humans as subjects and data access. 

This committee will also play a role in resolving ethical issues that arise as well as drafting and providing relevant research ethics guidelines.
 

 

The Role of JKEP UUM 

JKEP UUM has the authority to:
 
Assign risk categories to:
  • Review applications for ethical approval of research involving humans.
  • Minimal risk - the probability and degree of harm or discomfort expected in research does not exceed that normally encountered in everyday life or during physical or routine psychological examinations
  • High risk - research activities that show greater risk than minimal risk 
  • Approve or reject a proposed research ethics application.
  • Impose restrictions and conditions on the research data collection process, if necessary.
  • Review progress reports submitted;
  • Suspend or revoke research approval in the event of ethical violations. 

 

Research Committee of the School/Centre of Excellence/Centre of Postgraduate Studies

Evaluate human-related research applications from the Study Center before submitting to the UUM JKEP Secretariat.
